Introducing the Phish Alert Button to Outlook
Phish Alert
In our ongoing efforts to protect against cyber threats, and to streamline our phishing reporting process, the IT team are installing a ‘Phish Alert Button’ (PAB) in user Outlook applications.
The PAB is a tool which allows you to report suspicious emails. When you click the PAB, you are helping to efficiently warn our IT team about phishing attacks or malicious messages, without needing to submit a helpdesk ticket.
Why should I use the PAB?
Reporting suspicious emails will help Fisher German stay safe and defend against potential cyber-attacks.
When you report an email with the PAB, the email will be forwarded to the IT Helpdesk team so they can analyse it. Once the team are aware of possible vulnerabilities, they can then implement measures to help us better defend against cyber-attacks.
All colleagues play an important part in the process of keeping Fisher German safe from cybercriminals, by forming a ‘human firewall’.
When should I use the PAB?
The PAB should be used any time you receive an email that is suspicious or you believe is a potential phishing attack.
You should not use it to report spam or marketing emails. These emails can be deleted from your inbox.
How do I use the PAB?
Over the coming days, as the IT team will continue to install the PAB on all user accounts. It should appear in your Outlook application without the need for you to do anything.
The PAB displays as a button at the top of your Outlook application, or as a tab that you can click when you open an email.
Please note: when you report an email with the PAB, the email will be forwarded to the IT team and deleted from your inbox. If you reported the email by mistake, you can recover the email from your ‘Deleted items’ folder in Outlook.
