How to Set Up Your New Android Device: Quick User Guide
A Step-by-Step Guide to Enrol and Configure Your New Phone for Work
This guide walks you through the process of enrolling and setting up your new business device so you can start working right away. From transferring your SIM card to configuring email accounts, the steps outlined here will ensure your device is ready for use with all the essential business applications installed. Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi or 4G connection before starting. If any issues arise during setup, assistance is available through your company’s helpdesk.
Unpack the Device
Remove the phone from the packaging. The device will have a screen protector pre-installed.
Transfer SIM Card
Use the SIM ejector pin provided in the box to transfer the SIM card from the old device to the new one. (Refer to the immersive guide for detailed instructions, if necessary.)
Power On the Device
Locate the large button and the smaller lock/power button on the right-hand side of the device. Press and hold the power button to turn the phone on.
Language Selection
Once the device powers on, press the blue button and set the language to English (United Kingdom).
Agree to Terms and Conditions
Review and accept the Terms and Conditions to proceed.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Connect to a Wi-Fi network. If at work, use the ‘FGLLP-GUEST’ network, or connect to your home Wi-Fi network. Tap ‘Continue’ to proceed.
Proceed Through Setup
Continue tapping ‘Accept and Continue’ or ‘Next’ until reaching the username screen.
Enter Email Address
On the MobileIron screen, enter your full Fisher German email address in the username field and tap ‘Continue.’
Microsoft Login
On the Microsoft login portal, re-enter your FG email address and tap ‘Next.’ Enter your current FG laptop or desktop password and tap ‘Sign In.’
Error Troubleshooting
If an error occurs, verify that both the email address and password are correct. If issues persist, visit the provided link, sign in with your credentials, tap ‘Skip’ on the bottom left-hand side, and then retry the sign-in process on the device.
Complete Setup
Continue tapping ‘Agree’ and ‘Continue.’ Set a 4-6 digit PIN when prompted and confirm it. Tap ‘Done’ and return to the home screen.
App Installation
Wait for approximately 10 minutes for the installation of standard business applications. The installation time may vary depending on the strength of your Wi-Fi connection.
Configure Outlook
After all apps have installed, unlock the device, swipe up, and locate the Outlook app. Tap ‘Add Account,’ then enter your FG email address and password.
Skip Additional Account Setup
If prompted to add another account, tap ‘Maybe Later’ at the bottom of the screen. Allow the device to sync your emails.
Attach Case and Return Old Device
Attach the provided case to the new phone. Ensure your old device is reset to the default PIN (1234) and send it back to the IT department.
